The data are a set of tables corresponding to pairs of IMP stereo images. A given table contains Cartesian (x,y,z) coordinates for each pixel in the stereo pair. More information about the stereo modeling may be found in the data set description in the file catalog/dataset.cat. Other files in the catalog directory contain information about the IMP camera, the lander, the Mars Pathfinder mission, and references to published literature. File Formats ------------ IMP 3D position data are stored in ASCII text files. Each file contains a table with six columns: image line number, image sample number, X, Y, and Z coordinates, and pixel value in the original image (the left side of the stereo pair). Embedded at the beginning of each file is a PDS label that describes the content and format of the file, including the starting byte and number of bytes in each column. The file naming convention is IxxxxxxxxxL_yyyyyyyyyy_3D.TAB where xxxxxxxxx is the spacecraft clock count and yyyyyyyyyy is the image ID, taken from the file name of the left image of the original stereo pair. Volume Contents --------------- The IMP 3D position archive includes the following files and directories. Root directory AAREADME.TXT - the file you are reading VOLDESC.CAT - volume description for the PDS catalog INDEX directory INDXINFO.TXT - description of contents of this directory INDEX.TAB - index of all products in the archive INDEX.LBL - PDS label that describes INDEX.TAB CATALOG directory CATINFO.TXT - description of contents of this directory *.CAT - descriptions of dataset, instrument, spacecraft, mission, references, and personnel DATA directory *.TAB - data files EXTRAS directory EXTRINFO.TXT - description of contents of this directory *.WRL - 3-D model files in VRML format *.RGB - texture image files for display with VRML files Contacts -------- For questions concerning these data products, contact: PDS Geosciences Node Washington University Dept. of Earth and Planetary Sciences 1 Brookings Drive St. Louis, MO 63130 314-935-5493 WWW Site: http://wwwpds.wustl.edu Electronic mail address: geosci@wunder.wustl.edu
