            COMMENTS ON MER RAT EDR DATA

November 18, 2009. Release 22, sols 1801-1890.

This release includes new RAT EDR data products for sols 1801-1890 for MER-B
only, and some reprocessed RAT EDRs from previous deliveries. The reprocessed 
data are from sols 1-1800 from both rovers. Reprocessing was done to correct 
errors found in the processing software. A list of reprocessed products is 
in the file REPROCESSED.TXT in the INDEX directory.


August 17, 2009. Release 21, Sols 1711-1800

This release includes data for the MER-B (MER-1) RAT only; no data were 
acquired for MER-A (MER-2).

The EDR data file size indicated in the label is incorrect. This is 
due to a missing carriage return at the end of the label entry for 
MISSION_PHASE_NAME. However, the attached label size is reported 
correctly so that the data start at the location indicated in the 
label.

Note: This is true of all RAT EDRs released.

Labels for MER 1 data in this release still have the same error for 
TLM_INST_DATA_HEADER_ID as reported for Release 11.

A minor systematic error occurs in the PDS labels of RAT EDR products
in this release. The value for the keyword TLM_INST_DATA_HEADER_ID is
not a valid ASCII character. The value should be 3.

The RAT instrument on the MER-B rover (Opportunity) did not acquire
any data products during the time period covered by this release.
