Information about the EDR product can be found in the GRS EDR Software Interface Specification (SIS) in the DOCUMENT directory of this archive. Information about the structure and contents of the archive can be found in the Archive Volume SIS in the DOCUMENT directory. File Formats ------------ The GRS EDR data product contains ten types of data files: GAMMA SPECTRA Gamma ray spectra NEUTRON SPECTRA Neutron Spectrometer data HEND SPECTRA High Energy Neutron Detector data PULSER SPECTRA Pulser calibration spectra PROFILE DATA High time resolution count rates CHAN DATA Spacecraft channelized engineering data ENG DATA CEB, GRS, and NS engineering data COMMAND LIST Command execution log MESSAGE LOG CEB system message log E KERNEL Experimenter's Notebook GAMMA SPECTRA, PULSER SPECTRA, PROFILE DATA, NEUTRON SPECTRA, HEND SPECTRA, ENG DATA, CHAN DATA, and COMMAND LIST are all binary time series files. MESSAGE LOG is an ASCII table. E KERNEL has two parts, a binary time series E KERNEL PEF and an ASCII text stream (Experimenter's Notebook). The file naming convention for GRS EDR data files is the PRODUCT_TYPE value followed by an eight-digit date specifier in the format YYYYMMDD, e.g. GAMMA_SPECTRA_20010723.DAT. Each data file is described by a PDS label in a separate file with the same name, extension ".LBL", in the same directory as the data file. The labels contain identification and observation parameters associated with the data files and definitions for the TIME_SERIES objects. In most cases, the PDS label includes a pointer to a format file that contains column definitions (extension ".FMT"). These format files are found in the LABEL directory.
