PDS_VERSION_ID = PDS3 RECORD_TYPE = STREAM OBJECT = TEXT PUBLICATION_DATE = 2017-02-27 NOTE = "Description of contents of BROWSE directory" END_OBJECT = TEXT END The four panel plots in the browse directory show examples of the scattering behavior measured by BUG. For each sample, there are two figures showing the behavior in a single wavelength. As an example, consider the files ap10084_550i0.jpg and ap10084_550i_all.tif. These illustrate the scattering behavior of sample soil 10084 in the 550nm filter. The *i0.jpg figure shows the radiance factor (y-axis) versus emission angle (x-axis) for the case of normal (i=0 deg) illumination. The *_all.tif file shows four three-dimensional plots for scattering at the incidence angles shown (i = 15 deg, 30 deg, 45 deg, and 60 deg). On each plot, the z-axis (vertical) is radiance factor. The x and y-axes represent the emission angle and azimuth in a polar-type plot; e = 0 deg at the center of each plot, radiating outward to e = 80 deg at the edge. The azimuth is relative to the incidence vector; 0 deg is at the far right side (backscattering), 180 deg (forward scattering) is opposite it, and the plot is azimuthally symmetric. Each plot shows a slight bump that corresponds to the opposition surge.
