Compiled from notes provided by Percy Montoya." END_OBJECT = TEXT END LMC Logs and Displays The LMC (Link Monitor and Control) Log contains all LMC messages and operator inputs. Some of these messages and inputs appear in real-time LMC displays. The log may be restricted to: a certain time period a specific subsystem or assembly specific types of entries Each log entry contains four data fields (columns). Each entry is delimited by an ASCII carriage-return line-feed pair. 1) time of day at which the log entry was processed by the LMC (in I6 HHMMSS format); 2) type of log entry (1X,A2 format) CA Completion Advisory DA Deviation Advisory PA Progress Advisory C! Critical Alarms E! Emergency Alarms W! Warning Alarms EQ Equipment List OS Operating System Message TD Timed Directive OD Operator Directive DR Directive Response PR Prompt LR Late Response SD SPT Directive LO Log Only Message TL Tape Log 3) associated subsystem or assembly (DDC) (1X,A4 format) 4) text (1X,A format) Interspersed through the regular log entries may be notes regarding date changes, pass numbers, link assignments, etc. These are typically set off by blank lines before and after. Advisories: There are three types of advisories. Deviation advisories indicate minor malfunctions. They are not automatically displayed at the operator's console, but they are recorded in the operations log. Progress and completion advisories report on slow or completed processes. They are displayed in a permanent advisory display on the center screen of an LMC console, and they are recorded in the operations log. Alarms: There are three types of alarms. Critical and warning alarms are shown in displays; when the display block is full, a new alarm overwrites the oldest alarm displayed. Critical alarms are displayed using red characters on white background. Warning alarms are displayed using yellow on black. Emergency alarms are intermixed with critical alarms in the display; they are never overwritten by any other alarm and remain until cleared. Emergency alarms are displayed using white letters on red background. Alarm messages include the following fields: two digits representing an index number in the range 1-99; a time field giving time of arrival of the alarm at the LMC; two digits showing the number of times the same alarm message has been received; a 4-character source identifier; and a text message of up to 50 characters. A page number and overflow marker occupy line 24 on the alarm display. Timed Entry: A timed entry includes a header that presents status information for the next four timed directives in the stack. Directives: A directive entry consists of three lines, 85 characters in length, displayed at the bottom of the console CRT. Operator directives include a description of the function and how it should be used, response messages from the system when the directive is valid or invalid, and a Directive Destination Code (DDC). If the DDC is omitted, "L" (for LMC) is assumed. If execution time is omitted, then the directive is sent immediately. Directive formats are: [DDC][directive name][parameters][{^/@} time] Subsystems use the "@" sign folowed by the time. Prompts: Prompts are used to gain attention of the operator to advise on a required or permitted procedural step. On displays the three most recent prompts are shown; the most recent is indicated by an asterisk. Late Response: A late response entry results if traffic on the LAN is heavy or the subsystem is busy.
