For details the reader is referred to Young et al. 2010. Scientific Objectives ===================== High-speed photometric imaging of the LCROSS impact site. Calibration =========== Dark and bias corrections done by collecting unilluminated exposures of the same exposure time as the data and subtracting. Flat fielding is done with twilight-sky flat field images. Operational Considerations ========================== The instrument is manually operated through a GUI control. Starting exposures and recording the start time requires a manual to coordinate both cameras. The start time, though manual, has the full GPS precision of time quality because the accurate start time is displayed on the screen after starting. The data acquisition software was WinView as supplied by the camera vendor. Detectors ========= The camera has a 512x1024 frame-transfer CCD. Only one half of the device is receptive to light (512x512) while the other half is covered for use during the frame-transfer readout. Further information can be found in Eliot et al. 2010 [ELIOTETAL2010]. Electronics =========== The camera is a standard PhotonMax camera sold by Princeton Instruments. Filters ======= Filters are external to the instrument and described in the data set catalog file PHOTDOC_DS.CAT for the LCROSS data set EAR-L-MRO24M_PHOTDOC-2-EDR-LCROSS-V1.0. Optics ====== None. Location ======== Naysmith focus of the Magdalena Ridge Observatory 2.4-m telescope. Operational Modes ================= Frame-transfer mode with the 1Mhz pixel clocking readout rate. Subsystems ========== None. Measured Parameters =================== Gain and sensitivity calibration values are stored in the image headers.
