PDS_VERSION_ID = PDS3 RECORD_TYPE = STREAM OBJECT = TEXT PUBLICATION_DATE = 2010-02-01 NOTE = "Contents of the EXTRAS directory" END_OBJECT = TEXT END This directory contains three Quicktime movies created from the FITS images in this archive. DUAL.MOV - This movie shows the PHOTDOC and PHOTGJON camera images side by side. The movie has been annotated with a scale bar showing the sky-plane distance in kilometers, along with the UTC time of each frame. Also indicated is the time from impact. The impact zone around the crater Cabeus is highlighted. This sequence shows every fourth frame from the full FITS image sequence. No processing was done on the images. DUALSHIF.MOV - The previous movie, DUAL.MOV, shows noticeable image motion from distortions in the Earth's atmosphere. This version, DUALSHIF.MOV, shows the image sequence after applying sub-pixel registration to the images relative to the first image. Effectively all of the image wander has been removed. However, the correction does not remove the scale distortion, only the positional shifts. This image sequence is much steadier but there is still some obvious variable distortion. The same enhancement is used to highlight the Cabeus region. DUALDIFF.MOV - This movie is constructed by subtracting the reference image from each successive image that is seen in DUALSHIF.MOV. Outside of the circle the image contrast is identical to the stretch used in DUAL.MOV and DUALSHIF.MOV. Inside the circle, the stretch is enhanced by a factor of 3 to help search for a fainter signal.
