Introduction This data set provides tables of weight fractions and terms of the error matrix for major oxides and K, Th, and U for the Moon from Lunar Prospector Gamma Ray and Neutron Spectrometer data acquired at high altitude (100 km) and binned on 2, 5, or 20 degree equal area pixels. The table contains the original elemental abundances reported by PRETTYMANETAL2006. The abundances were determined by gamma ray spectral unmixing. 2. File Formats The data files are ASCII tables corresponding to bin sizes of 2, 5, and 20 degree pixels. Each table is described by a detached PDS label with the same file name but with the extension ".LBL". ASCII tables (file names ending in "*.TAB") have fixed-length rows, with columns separated by commas. Character fields are enclosed in double quotation marks ("). Character fields are left justified, and numeric fields are right justified. The "start byte" and "bytes" values listed for each column in file's PDS label do not include the commas between fields or the quotation marks surrounding character fields. The last two bytes of each row contain the carriage return (ASCII 13) and line feed (ASCII 10) characters. This allows the table to be viewed easily on various computer operating systems. Files with names ending in ".TXT" and ".CAT" are also ASCII text files and can be opened in a text editor. These files are stream format with a carriage return and line feed at the end of each line. PDS labels (file names ending in "*.LBL") are ASCII text files that can be opened in a text editor. They are written using KEYWORD = VALUE statements that are both human-readable and software-readable. A PDS label gives specific information about a data file and describes the file's storage format. In this archive all data files have the same tabular format, which is described in the format file LPGRS-ELEM-ABUNDANCE.FMT. Each PDS label refers to this format file with the statement ^STRUCTURE = "LPGRS_ELEM_ABUNDANCE.FMT". 3. Archive Contents The files in this archive are organized in one top-level directory with several subdirectories. The following diagram shows the structure and content of these directories. In the diagram, directory names are enclosed in square brackets ([]), upper-case letters indicate an actual directory or file name, and lower-case letters indicate the general form of a set of directory or file names.
