Notes: On 25 February, 2013, new flight software was uploaded to the GRS. The purpose was to optimize the capability of the instrument to characterize neutron emission from Mercury's surface by changing the gain of the shield spectrum. Additionally, a new data product was added (SCR), which produces 10-ms cadence measurements of the total shield count rate. Because the shield responds to charged particles, these measurements represent the highest time cadence samples of the energetic charged particle environment around Mercury. The first several weeks were devoted to parameter optimization, with official data collection beginning on 18 March, 2013. The GRS FSW had previously been incorrectly assigning the time tag at the end of the integration period instead of at the start of the integration period. The SOC software has been updated to report the MET times at the start of the integration period and the EDRs have been regenerated. Notes: 1. The PRODUCT_VERSION_ID for the reprocessed EDRs described above has been updated to "V2" and the SOFTWARE_VERSION_ID to "1.1". 2. The format of the GRS SHIELD data product has changed. GRS_SHIELD.FMT applies to spectra taken before the FSW update on September 17, 2010, while GRS_SHIELD_2.FMT applies to spectra taken after the FSW update. 3. Improper MET to UTC conversions have been found during the course of regenerating the GRS_RAW and GRS_SHI EDRs. The following EDRs have been deleted from the archive: GRS_RAW2004226.TAB GRS_SHI2004226.TAB The data in these two deleted EDRs is now correctly in the Day 225 EDRs. 4. The statement STANDARD_DATA_PRODUCT_ID = "GRS_SOFTWARE_RATE_COUNTERS" occurs in some GRS EDR product labels. This value will cause an error in PDS validation software because it is longer than the permitted maximum of 20 characters.
