DATE: 2018-12-03 During the process of creating PDS4 labels to accompany the PDS3 labels in the MESSENGER GRS CDR archive, an error was found in data product NS_CDR_GAB2010100ZZZ. The data file does not contain any data; rather, it contains a copy of the PDS3 label file. Records show that this is the way the file was originally delivered to PDS in 2016, release 15. At that time there was no systematic validation of data product content, so the error was not discovered until now, using PDS4 content validation software. The corrupted file remains in the archive as of this writing. Members of the GRS team have been asked to recover the original data product.
