Two CDR products from PDS release 9 did not contain proper spatial data, XRSCDR2012150.DAT (2012-05-29) and XRSCDR2012151.DAT (2012-05-30). Adding the spatial data changed the size of XRSCDR2012150.DAT from 1,057,990 bytes to 1,099,245 bytes and the size of XRSCDR2012151.DAT from 1,080,460 bytes to 1,113,020 bytes. The corrected product files are included in this interim release. 2. XRS CDR data files for PDS releases 10 and 11 (September 18, 2012 - September 17, 2013) contained properly calibrated science data, however, engineering metadata (supplementary voltages, currents, temperatures, etc.) were inadvertently included in raw rather than physical units. All of the data files for these releases are redelivered in this release to correct this error. Thirty-seven columns have been corrected. These are: ANALOG_MINUS_5V, ANALOG_PLUS_5V, BIAS_SUPPLY_TEMP, BIAS_VOLTAGE, DIGITAL_PLUS_5V, GPC1_MG_MINUS_5V, GPC1_MG_PLUS_5V, GPC1_MG_SUPPLY_TEMP, GPC1_MG_VOLTAGE, GPC2_AL_MINUS_5V, GPC2_AL_PLUS_5V, GPC2_AL_SUPPLY_TEMP, GPC2_AL_VOLTAGE, GPC3_UN_MINUS_5V, GPC3_UN_PLUS_5V, GPC3_UN_SUPPLY_TEMP, GPC3_UN_VOLTAGE, LVPS_MINUS_12V, LVPS_MINUS_12_I, LVPS_MINUS_5V, LVPS_MINUS_5_I, LVPS_PLUS_12V, LVPS_PLUS_12_I, LVPS_PLUS_5V, LVPS_PLUS_5_I, LVPS_PRIMARY_I, LVPS_SWITCHED_PRIMARY_I, LVPS_TEMP, MXU_TEMP, SAX_MINUS_5V, SAX_PLUS_5V, SAX_TEMP, SC_ANGLE, SC_RANGE, SOLAR_DETECTOR_I, SOLAR_DETECTOR_TEMP, TEC_I. The temporary workaround described in the release 11 notes (below) is no longer applicable. 3. In previous releases, the fields SC_ANGLE and SC_RANGE have had statistical outliers replaced with the average value of non-outlier values over a small window centered at the data point in question. Given that SC_ANGLE and SC_RANGE are very often -1 (i.e. invalid) in the EDR data, the culling of statistical outliers often eliminated data from these fields on the occasions when they were valid (i.e. not -1). For example, if the values in the window were [-1 -1 -1 -1 42 -1 -1 -1 -1], the one valid point would appear to be a statistical outlier and will be replaced with the average of the non-outlier values in a smaller sub-window, leading to the replacement of 42 with -1. The products with these changes are from May 29, 2012 and May 30, 2012 (release 9) and September 18, 2012 - September 17, 2013 (releases 10 and 11). Future data releases beginning with release 12 will contain values that are converted from the raw units but without removal of statistical outliers in the fields SC_ANGLE and SC_RANGE. -------------------------------------------------------------------------- RELEASE NUMBER: 11 RELEASE DATE: 2014-03-07 DATA COVERAGE: 2013-03-18 to 2013-09-17 (Mercury Orbit Year 3) PRODUCT TYPES RELEASED FOR THIS ARCHIVE: XRS CDR PRODUCT TYPES UPDATED FOR THIS ARCHIVE: None. 1. XRS CDR data files for PDS releases 10 and 11 contain properly calibrated science data, however, engineering meta data (supplementary voltages, currents, temperatures, etc.) were inadvertently included in raw rather than physical units. As a temporary workaround, users are advised to use the conversion equations in the MESSENGER XRS EDR-to-CDR Processing Document (xrsedr2cdr.pdf, Table 2 on page 8) to obtain engineering values in the desired physical units (e.g., from the first table entry: SC_RANGE in physical units = SC_RANGE in raw units from CDR * 30). The following affected engineering data columns for CDRs in the period covered by releases 10 and 11 (September 18, 2012 - September 17, 2013) will be corrected in an upcoming interim release: ANALOG_MINUS_5V, ANALOG_PLUS_5V, BIAS_SUPPLY_TEMP, BIAS_VOLTAGE, DIGITAL_PLUS_5V, GPC1_MG_MINUS_5V, GPC1_MG_PLUS_5V, GPC1_MG_SUPPLY_TEMP, GPC1_MG_VOLTAGE, GPC2_AL_MINUS_5V,GPC2_AL_PLUS_5V, GPC2_AL_SUPPLY_TEMP, GPC2_AL_VOLTAGE, GPC3_UN_MINUS_5V,GPC3_UN_PLUS_5V, GPC3_UN_SUPPLY_TEMP, GPC3_UN_VOLTAGE, LVPS_MINUS_12V, LVPS_MINUS_12_I, LVPS_MINUS_5V, LVPS_MINUS_5_I, LVPS_PLUS_12V, LVPS_PLUS_12_I, LVPS_PLUS_5V, LVPS_PLUS_5_I, LVPS_PRIMARY_I,LVPS_SWITCHED_PRIMARY_I, LVPS_TEMP, MXU_TEMP, SAX_MINUS_5V, SAX_PLUS_5V, SAX_TEMP, SC_ANGLE, SC_RANGE, SOLAR_DETECTOR_I, SOLAR_DETECTOR_TEMP, TEC_I 2. Two CDR products from PDS release 9 do not contain proper spatial data: XRSCDR2012150.DAT (2012-05-29) and XRSCDR2012151.DAT (2012-05-30) will be corrected in an upcoming interim release. -------------------------------------------------------------------------- RELEASE NUMBER: 10 RELEASE DATE: 2013-09-06 DATA COVERAGE: 2012-09-18 to 2013-03-17 (Mercury Orbit Year 2) PRODUCT TYPES RELEASED FOR THIS ARCHIVE: XRS CDR PRODUCT TYPES UPDATED FOR THIS ARCHIVE: None. Notes: The HERMEOCENTRIC_LONGITUDE as currently reported in the data files is being shown as going from -180 degrees to 180 degrees. The MESSENGER project had agreed that all data providers would report LONGITUDE in an easting manner, going from 0 degrees to 360 degrees. A simple conversion can be applied to the current LONGITUDE to make it an easting longitude, that conversion being: if longitude is less than zero add 360 to it. -------------------------------------------------------------------------- RELEASE NUMBER: 4 RELEASE DATE: 2009-04-15 No CDRs delivered. -------------------------------------------------------------------------- RELEASE NUMBER: 3 RELEASE DATE: N/A No CDRs delivered. -------------------------------------------------------------------------- RELEASE NUMBER: 2 RELEASE DATE: N/A No CDRs delivered. -------------------------------------------------------------------------- RELEASE NUMBER: 1 RELEASE DATE: N/A No CDRs delivered. -------------------------------------------------------------------------- ******** SECTION B ******** This section is provided for general notes concerning the archive as a whole.
