Massive lahar with some discrete layering. Sequence from bottom to top displays poorly-sorted layers, massive unit, oxidized layers, crossbeds and vesicular sequence. High-level Description: Cross-bedded subunit lying on the bottom 2 layers of Unit 4. Context image 0885 scale is approximate at 2 mm/pxl. Cross-bedded rock within lahar unit is diagnostic of high fluid content. Embedded grains of various sizes within a fine-grained gray matrix. Bedding planes are evident. Black, dark and light gray, white, and red grains are evident. Grain size is fairly homogenous at approximately .2-1.2 mm. Grains are sub-angular. Texture Grain morphology and appearance: Rough, sub-angular tephra grains in a clast-supported matrix. Grain size and sorting: Poorly-sorted grains averaging about 0.2-0.6 mm, in a clast-supported matrix. Grain fabric: Polymodal. Sediment structure: Cross-bedded lamination. Color: Light and dark grey, black, white and a few red grains.
