Each coarse- to fine-grained sequence at this level averages 10 cm thick. Texture Grain morphology and appearance: Rough, sub-angular, grain-supported tephra with a few larger, sub-angular lithics intermixed. Grain size and sorting: Smaller tephra grains (<=0.67 mm diameter) supports lithics 0.2 -1.4 mm in diameter. Grain fabric: Random orientation; unimodal. Sediment structure: None Color: Dark red, dark grey, black and white grains.
