Pumacious texture consists of many elongated vesicles creating a glassy, frothy matrix (images 1284, 1285, 1287). Individual shards broken off from vesicle walls may also be seen (image 1284). Vesicle long axes are as long as several mm. Smoother zones display a highly reflective, glassy texture with banding (images 1290-1292). Note the contrast between the glassy, smooth obsidian texture (at left in image 1283) with the frothy pumacious obsidian (at center of image 1283) in adjacent zones in the sample. Texture Grain morphology and appearance: Grains are sub-resolution. Grain size and sorting: Grains are sub-resolution. No sorting evident. Grain fabric: Flow structure is layered but grains are sub-resolution. Sediment structure: None. Color: Black, white, grey.
