Focus in the images is on an undulating band of alternating vitreous and vesicular texture. Volatiles collect in frothy, bubbly bands. Darker, smoother zones display a highly reflective, vitreous, glassy texture (image 1299). Note the contrast between the glassy, smooth obsidian texture with the frothy pumacious obsidian in adjacent zones in the sample. Texture Grain morphology and appearance: Grains are sub-resolution.
