The bottom of image 3678 includes the 3rd layer in image 3679. Composed primarily of dark brown sub-angular sub-vitreous clasts in a fine, light-colored, clast-supported matrix. Clast sizes fine downwards and vary throughout the layer from 1.7 to 4.2 mm in diameter in the upper portion to 1-3.8 mm in the lower portion. Clasts in the lower part of the photo are much larger, with an average diameter of 6 mm (Largest 6.2 mm and smallest 5.9 mm). Some are vesicular and frothy. Texture Grain morphology and appearance: Dark brown sub-angular sub-vitreous clasts in a fine, light-colored, clast-supported matrix. Larger grains in the lower portion of the layer are vesicular and frothy. Grain size and sorting: Clast sizes fine downwards and vary throughout the layer from 1.7 to 4.2 mm in diameter in the upper portion to 1-3.8 mm in the lower portion. Clasts in the lower part of the photo are much larger, with an average diameter of 6mm (Largest 6.2mm and smallest 5.9mm). Well-sorted. Grain fabric: Random orientation.
