Float is light grey, very vesicular, and about 10 cm across. Vesicles are mostly spherical, with the large vesicles ranging from 0.7 mm to 3 mm and averaging about 1 cm. In some vesicles (about 2%), there is a white, sub-spherical secondary growth, possibly opal. About 30% of the volume of the pumice is vesicles Texture Grain morphology and appearance: Pumice is granular-textured, sub-angular to sub-rounded and very vesicular. Vesicles (30% by volume) are mostly spherical, with the large vesicles ranging from 0.7 mm to 3 mm and averaging about 1 cm. Some vesicles are filled with a whitish precipitate. Grain size and sorting: Individual pumice ash grains are sub-mm in size. Grain fabric: Random orientation. Sediment structure: Very fine parallel lamination present below the coarse scoria layer. Image 3790 shows a bomb sag. Color: Light grey with some orange-red surface deposits.
