Sequence of eight brown fine ash layers interbedded with coarse ash (image 3931 shows contact between two of these layers). Unit is comprised of angular, vitric grains; finer grains are buff and coarser grains are dark grey. Approximately 10% of grains are olivine crystals. Texture Grain morphology and appearance: Coarse layers are comprised of dark grey, sub-angular particles in a clast-supported matrix, while fine layers are angular, buff fine ash grains. Texture of coarse grains is rough and rubbly. Grain size and sorting: Ash grains <0.6 (fine ash) to 2 mm diameter (coarse ash). Grain fabric: Random orientation. Sediment structure: Parallel lamination. Color: Grey (coarse) and buff (fine) grains.
