LRO-Diviner EXTRAS Directory

The EXTRAS directory in this Diviner archive contains additional material 
that may be of interest to the user, but that is not required to understand
or use the data products.

A sample MATLAB routine for removing GCP records containing no valid data, 
(i.e. records where all values are marked invalid) can be found in:

  remove_bad_data.m

The GDR_L2 and GDR_L3 subdirectory structures are parallel to the structures 
under the DATA/GDR_L2 and DATA/GDR_L3 directories. They contain files with
names of the form <product>.AUX.XML, where <product> is the entire filename 
of a Diviner JPEG2000 image. For example, the file

 EXTRAS/GDR_L2/2009/CYLINDRICAL/XML/
 DGDR_TB7_AVG_CYL_20091017D_128_JP2.JP2.AUX.XML

is intended to accompany the data file 

 DATA/GDR_L2/2009/CYLINDRICAL/JP2/DGDR_TB7_AVG_CYL_20091017D_128_JP2.JP2

These XML files are provided for use with GDAL supported products
(such as ArcGIS) that do not extract map projection information from the 
JPEG2000 file's PDS label.  Having the XML files present relieves the user 
of the necessity of entering the map projection information manually. 
Users of this software should copy the .XML files into the same directory
where the .JP2 files are present.

The PRP subdirectory contains Zip-compressed versions of the data products in
the directory DATA/PRP. These files are provided for more convenient 
downloading of the data from an online repository. The compressed files are
111 megabytes in size. The uncompressed original versions are 576 megabytes.
