In addition, the RIMFAX team removed duplicated products for the first five releases. See note number 1 under release 4 about duplicate products. The products with a "R" character in position #37 of the filename have been removed if a duplicate product with a "D" exists. ------------------------------------------------------------ Release Number: 5 Release Date: 2022-11-21 Data Coverage: 2022-04-26 to 2022-08-26 (Sols 420-539) New products have been added to these collections: urn:nasa:pds:mars2020_rimfax_data_raw urn:nasa:pds:mars2020_rimfax:data_hk urn:nasa:pds:mars2020_rimfax:data_calibrated urn:nasa:pds:mars2020_rimfax:document urn:nasa:pds:mars2020_rimfax:browse_radargram Products have been revised in these collections: All products in the data_hk and data_raw collections from releases 1 thru 4 (sols 0 to 419) have been revised. ------------------------------------------------------------ Release Number: 4 Release Date: 2022-07-22 Data Coverage: 2021-12-23 to 2022-04-25 (Sols 300-419) New products have been added to these collections: urn:nasa:pds:mars2020_rimfax_data_raw urn:nasa:pds:mars2020_rimfax:data_hk urn:nasa:pds:mars2020_rimfax:data_calibrated urn:nasa:pds:mars2020_rimfax:document urn:nasa:pds:mars2020_rimfax:browse_radargram Products have been revised in these collections: All products in the data_hk and data_raw collections from releases 1 and 2 (sols 0 to 179) have been revised with the updated binary format as described in the notes for Release Number 3, below. 1. In some instances, certain raw products have two copies present, whose names differ solely in the "Onboard Processing Type" character (#37 in the filename string): one copy will have a "R" and the other will have a "D". If both of these copies exist, only the "D" copy should be used; the "R" copy should contain the identical data, however the labels may be inaccurate - the "R" copy should not be used. Any product for which only a "D" copy, only a "R" copy, or only a "X" copy exists, is fine (both data and label). The certain products that may be affected are "EDR" (binary .DAT) and "EDM" (text .CSV) type EDRs, and specifically those with the following "Parameter Mode Numbers" (#35-36 in filename string, hex format): 01, 1A, 1C, 38, 4E. This duplication does not occur on every sol; the first occurrence is on sol 248. This issue results from complex technicalities of onboard and ground processing, and is intended to be resolved in future releases. ------------------------------------------------------------ Release Number: 3 Release Date: 2022-03-22 Data Coverage: 2021-08-22 to 2021-12-22 (Sols 180-299) New products have been added to these collections: urn:nasa:pds:mars2020_rimfax_data_raw urn:nasa:pds:mars2020_rimfax:data_hk urn:nasa:pds:mars2020_rimfax:data_calibrated urn:nasa:pds:mars2020_rimfax:document urn:nasa:pds:mars2020_rimfax:browse_radargram Products have been revised in these collections: All products in the browse_radargram and data_calibration collections from releases 1 and 2 have been revised because of an improved calibration. 1. The Rimfax Sounding-data EDRs (i.e., those EDR products with "EDR" in their filename, of binary data-type, and with suffix of ".DAT") contained in Release 3 have a different internal binary format than the Sounding-data EDRs in original Releases 1 and 2. The new format is more consistent with that typically encountered with traditional binary files, involving byte pairs comprising consecutive Most-significant-byte (MSB) and Least-significant-byte (LSB). Please refer to the corresponding updated Rimfax EDR SIS, v 2.0, for full description of the new format. This updated format is expected to be used for the remainder of the mission. EDRs from the original Releases 1 and 2 will be updated in the near future (likely March-April 2022). ------------------------------------------------------------ Release Number: 2 Release Date: 2021-11-19 Data Coverage: 2021-05-22 to 2021-08-21 (Sols 90-179) New products have been added to these collections: urn:nasa:pds:mars2020_rimfax_data_raw urn:nasa:pds:mars2020_rimfax:data_hk urn:nasa:pds:mars2020_rimfax:data_calibrated urn:nasa:pds:mars2020_rimfax:document urn:nasa:pds:mars2020_rimfax:browse_radargram Products have been revised in these collections: None. 1. Each record in RIMFAX sounding data (type EDR) contains data from one sounding. One complete sounding sample is a two-byte most-significant-byte- first signed-integer value. Within each sounding record, however, the two bytes of an individual sample are split from each other, i.e. they are not adjacent. In each record, the MSBs (most-significant bytes) of every sample are given (in correct sample sequence) as a Group, followed by a second Group comprising the LSBs (least-significant bytes) of every sample (in the identical correct sample sequence). Note that the separately stored MSB and LSB bytes are unsigned but the combined two-byte sample value is signed. The high-order bit of the MSB is the sign bit and is set to 1 for negative values. Negative values are represented in two's complement. The data format is being redesigned so that the two bytes of the data value are contiguous. All raw EDR data will be re-released once this new format is ready. 2. There is an error in the value of the attribute for products in the data_hk (housekeeping data) collection. 3. First quarter Calibrated Data contains values of "sclk_sub_ns" that exceed the maximum value of 999,999,999 nanoseconds. These are considered overflow and should be treated as being 999999999. This fix has been applied to the second quarter data. When the first quarter data is inevitably reprocessed, that fix will be applied. Should we discover a better formula for treating the overflow, then all data will be re-released with that formula. ------------------------------------------------------------ Release Number: 1 Release Date: 2021-08-20 Data Coverage: 2021-02-18 through 2021-05-21 (Sol 0-89) New products have been added to these collections: urn:nasa:pds:mars2020_rimfax_data_raw urn:nasa:pds:mars2020_rimfax:data_hk urn:nasa:pds:mars2020_rimfax:data_calibrated urn:nasa:pds:mars2020_rimfax:document urn:nasa:pds:mars2020_rimfax:browse_radargram Products have been revised in these collections: None. 1. In labels for raw data, the product version_id and the Modification_Detail version_id should be the same. In most cases the Modification_Detail version_id is 1.0, even if the product version_id is different. This label error will be corrected in a later release. 4. Labels for raw data include the class Source_Product_Internal, which is inappropriate for raw data. Also, the LIDVID reference may have an incorrect version number, or may not include the complete logical identifier of the source product. These label errors will be corrected in a later release. 5. First quarter Calibrated Data contains values of "sclk_sub_ns" that exceed the maximum value of 999,999,999 nanoseconds. These are considered overflow and should be treated as being 999999999. Some raw product labels (data_hk and data_raw) may have source product references that point to the raw product itself. This is not the intended display. Later releases will not include these references. 2021-11-22. Calibrated data product labels may have a reference to a browse product that doesn't exist in the archive.
