Mars 2020 Spectrometer and Micro-Imager Suite (SuperCam) Mars 2020 (Perseverance) Rover Mission Planetary Data System (PDS) Archive Bundle Overview ======== This bundle contains the following collections. data_raw_spectra: Uncalibrated Laser-Induced Breakdown Spectroscopy (LIBS), Visible and Infrared Passive Spectroscopy (VISIR and IR), Raman Spectroscopy, and Time-Resolved Luminescence Spectroscopy (TRLS) data products data_raw_rmi: Uncalibrated images from the SuperCam Remote Micro-Imager (RMI) data_raw_audio: Uncalibrated acoustic recordings from the SuperCam microphone data_calibrated_spectra: Calibrated LIBS, VISIR, IR, Raman, and TRLS spectra data_radcal_rmi: Partially radiometrically corrected RMI images data_calibrated_audio: Calibrated acoustic recordings data_derived_spectra: LIBS element abundances; VISIR and IR data ratioed to a calibration target; tables of likely and possible mineral identifications from Raman and TRLS spectra data_special_rmi: RMI mosaics with positions of observations noted; Mastcam images with outlines of RMI images overlaid data_observation_log: Master spreadsheet of target information document: Descriptions of the SuperCam data products and the archive bundle organization calibration_supercam: Supercam LIBS calibration data used for MOC Data Products and PDS Labels ============================ Every SuperCam data product is accompanied by a PDS label in a file with the same name as the data file, but with the extension ".xml", as PDS labels are written in XML (Extended Markup Language). The labels may be viewed in a text editor or web browser, preferably one that applies special formatting to XML files to make them more readable. The labels may also be read by software that can interpret XML. All SuperCam data products are FITS files (Flexible Image Transport System, https://fits.gsfc.nasa.gov/). Thus they may also be read by software that reads FITS files. Raw images from the RMI camera are archived primarily in the collection data_rmi_imgops in the m2020_imgops bundle. For cross-reference, the images are listed as secondary members of the collection data_raw_rmi here in the m2020_SuperCam bundle. Documentation ============= The SuperCam Bundle Software Interface Specification in the document collection describes the contents, format, and structure of the bundle. Users who are unfamiliar with PDS archives should read this first. The SuperCam EDR and RDR Software Interface Specification (SIS) in the document collection describes the data products generated by the SuperCam instrument suite, including how they are processed and labeled, the format of the data products and their labels, and applicable standards. The SIS is a very detailed document intended for use in mission operations as well as by end users of the archive. The SuperCam PDS User Guide in the document collection summarizes information from the SIS that is likely to be most useful to the user. Each document and data product in this bundle is described by a PDS4 label in a separate file with the same name but with the extension "xml". PDS4 labels are XML (eXtended Markup Language) files that conform to the PDS4 Information Model XML schema at https://pds.nasa.gov/pds4/schema/released/. They are best viewed in an XML-aware text editor, and may be used by software that can manipulate XML documents. ============== This bundle was created and archived by the Geosciences Node of the Planetary Data System.
