INTRODUCTION

    The DOCUMENT directory contains documentation in support of the MESSENGER
Radio Science Subsystem (RSS) raw data archive.  It does not contain a
complete set of documentation for the project, but only select documents that
may be useful in interpreting the archived data products.  Not all of these
documents are specific to the MESSENGER mission or to radio science.

                   the Light Time File from the Navigation Subsystem
                   to all users. This document is provided in HTML format

MESS_RS_EDR_SIS.HTM, .PDF, .LBL
                   "The MESSENGER Radio Science EDR Software Interface
                   Specification (SIS)."  This document defines the
                   contents of the data products stored in this archive.
                   This document is provided in Adobe PDF format, the
                   original Microsoft Word format and in HTML. A detached
                   PDS label describes both files.  This is version 1.2
                   of this document.

SFF_SIS.HTM, .PDF, .LBL
                   The SFF ancillary product SIS document:
                   "Small Forces File for Mercury Surface Environment
                   Geochemistry and Ranging (MESSENGER)."  Original
                   version September 2003.  Adapted and abridged for PDS
                   June 2008.  The Small Forces File (SFF) provides the
                   cumulative delta-V effect of attitude thruster firings
                   over one or more specified intervals of time. In some
                   cases it also provides an estimate of the cumulative
                   spacecraft mass loss due to the use of propellant in
                   those attitude thrusters.  This document is provided in
                   HTML and PDF formats with a detached PDS label.

MDM_DESC.TXT       Describes the Momentum Dump Maneuver (MDM) ancillary
                   products.

MPD_DESC.TXT       Describes the Maneuver Performance Data (MPD) ancillary
