Good echoes were returned for this experiment on all channels. Station support was nominal except the SRCP noise diode may have "stuck" in the ON position at the end of mini-cal #1. We were suspicious after step 3 based on the ADC value and queried the operator who confirmed that it was indeed still on. After we asked again to turn off the diode, the operator reported it off at 11:26:29, but the ADC value was not consistent with this assumption. I suspect the diode may have stayed on in spite of the operator's displays because the value returned to expected for the OFF configuration in step 3 of mini-cal #2. In retrospect, I think we should have asked them to reissue the enable command and then disable (though there is no guarantee it would have worked), but we did not think of it at the time. - Danny & John From rsimpson Sat Oct 24 13:24:59 2009 Return-Path: Received: (from rsimpson@localhost) by magellan.stanford.edu (8.11.7p3+Sun/8.11.7) id n9OKOxU17893; Sat, 24 Oct 2009 13:24:59 -0700 (PDT) Date: Sat, 24 Oct 2009 13:24:59 -0700 (PDT) From: Dick Simpson 650-723-3525 Message-Id: <200910242024.n9OKOxU17893@magellan.stanford.edu> To: daniel.s.kahan@jpl.nasa.gov Subject: Re: MEX 2009-291 BSR Ops Log Cc: gene.l.goltz@jpl.nasa.gov, rsimpson Content-Length: 786 >Attached please find the operations log for the MEX Bistatic Radar >(BSR) experiment that was conducted over DSS-14 on 18 October (DOY >291). Good echoes were returned for this experiment on all channels. Thanks for trying. But the spreadsheet is wrapped into a winmail.dat file, which I can't read. Could you send it again? >In retrospect, I think we should have asked them to reissue the >enable command and then disable (though there is no guarantee >it would have worked), but we did not think of it at the time. REconfiguring to S-RCP, then disabling should have done the job. Simply reissuing the disable command doesn't work if the connection has been broken. I'll let you know what the data look like. This is not the worst thing that could have happened.
