PDS_VERSION = PDS3 RECORD_TYPE = STREAM OBJECT = TEXT PUBLICATION_DATE = 1997-01-10 NOTE = "MGS RST Instrument Health Report HEA7010A.TXT" END_OBJECT = TEXT END The health report covering spacecraft operations on 97/008 was delayed while we investigated what appears to have been a swap from MOT1/TWTA1 to MOT2/TWTA2 at about 12h, followed by a swap back at 14h. These events do not appear in either the SOE or SFOS. In order to get a better picture of the events, we reprocessed ALL of the MOT, TWT, and HGA channelized engineering data. Although, in principle, this shouldn't be difficult we had not previously entered all the parameters necessary to plot MOT and HGA data; and extracting nearly 100 total channels from a file of nearly 100 MB takes time -- over 12 hrs with the non- optimized SOPC software we have in place. Statistical results for all channels processed are tabulated below. These one-line summaries don't provide much insight into the MOT/TWTA swap except that status channels like L-0032, which has been "0" (ON) for weeks also had some "1" (OFF) readings during 96/008. L-0042 also had both "0" (OFF) and "1" (ON)" readings. The picture is much better with plot data, where you can see temperatures associated with MOT1/TWTA1 fall during the 12-14h window while temperatures associated with MOT2/TWTA2 rise. The channel title (C-nnnn) to channel name conversion table is included after the statistics. The channel names are, in some cases, only slightly less cryptic. But this will give you some idea of what we are looking at. L-0032 and L-0042, mentioned above, are the status bits for the MOT1 and MOT2 exciters, respectively. We plan to do the same sort of analysis on the 96/009 data, during which the spacecraft switched from LGA to HGA; that is in progress, but results are not expected until tomorrow. Then we will return to more modest inspections of the engineering data. And see whether we can speed up the execution. And reduce the length of our daily reports.
