End of Beta Supplement: The following is relayed from Oliver Walthall (MGS ACS): Pat Esposito requested a prediction of the HGA az/el angles when the first HGA stop command of nominal mapping is issued. From the PEF, the SAHGCX command is issued at DOY 172/18:09:57 SCET. Sim results show the rewind would stop at +44.96 deg azimuth, -17.0 deg elevation. For this orbit, the PEF shows solar eclipse entry at 17:51:41 SCET and solar eclipse exit at 18:26:57 SCET. Personal Involvement: Mars was at opposition last night; grab your binoculars and take a peek. It's bright. Cause is unknown. Data from occultation 10127i (DSS 45, start time 2001/164-17:29:00) have the first record missing. Data from occultation 10134i (DSS 15, start time 2001/165-05:14:00) were lost when the script did not run. Potential interference was forecast in the DSN schedule for days 158 and 159 at DSS 15, but we have seen no signs of problems in data from those days. Analyses -------- Joe Twicken reports that some of the open loop data corrupted by operation of the Goldstone Solar System Radar (see HEA1144A.TXT, HEA1145A.TXT, and HEA1149A.TXT) retain good frequency/phase stability. Even though amplitudes vary by 20-30 dB, it may still be possible to recover atmospheric profiles from as many as half of the observations.
