Although the overall transfer is slower using the 56k NASCOM line, more of the processes can be automated than was possible when we queried at JPL and then ftp'd the data to Stanford. This saves time for operators. Vincent Hung advises that our new SOPC will not be shipped until early January. There have been delays in finishing some of the software that was to be delivered with the new machines. These began with data starting at 2001/352-13:23:00 (occultation 12425i) and repeated every 117 minutes through data collected starting 2001/353-09:00:00 (12435i). The first four observations at DSS 63 were lost because the RSR did not go to idle properly. It was in continuous run mode from previous observations and the tuning predicts were not correct for the 2001/352 data collection. Only noise is visible in these data. 180 Hz spurs are visible in the remaining two observations at DSS 63. There is a "hesitation" in the egress rise on occultation 12429e (DSS 63, start time 2001/352-19:44:00). The carrier level pauses about halfway to its free space level. There is an odd rise and fall in signal level at egress on occultation 12431e (DSS 15, start time 2001/352-23:39:00). The carrier rises to within 5 dB of its free space value, then drops 15 dB before rising again to its final level. Whether this is connected to the "hesitation" seen in 12429e cannot be determined from the quick-look data.
