These start with occultation 12625i (DSS 15, 2002/003-22:23:00) and repeat every 117 min until occultation 12632i (DSS 43, 2002/004-11:34:00). The surface occultation can be seen in each recording. The surface appears about 10 dB below the free space signal level and about 40 sec after the HGA rewind begins in the last recording (12632i). Data from occultation 12632i (DSS 43, start time 2002/004-11:34:00) have carrier level fluctuations of +/-1 dB. Data from both 12632e and 12632i (DSS 43; start times 2002/004-10:09:00 and 11:34:00, respectively) have a short period 'chatter' superimposed on the carrier amplitude. This appears as a scalloping on the power vs time plot with amplitude approximately 0.2 dB and period approximately 5 sec throughout the time when the carrier is present -- either with telemetry on or off. This 'chatter' has been observed intermittently since we began collecting RSR data, usually at DSS 43; but we have not noted it before in a health report. Data from DSS 14 have spurs at approximately 120 Hz spacing across the entire passband. Close to the carrier they are about -30 dBc while at the edges (approx +/-750 Hz from the carrier) they are about -43 dBc; the carrier is about 48 dB above the noise level. See Figure HEA2004A.PS1. Data collected simultaneously at DSS 15 have no visible spurs. The spacecraft carrier is at about 1060 Hz; spurs appear at approximately every 120 Hz on either side of the carrier to the edges of the passband. Spurs closest to the carrier are about -30 dBc; spurs at the edges are about -43 dBc. Figure ====== Plot(s) illustrate some of the points made in the text.
