Yesterday's report (HEA2107A.TXT) reported the first set (current software); today's report includes the data from RSR3 (new software). Data collected from DSS 15 occultation 13887i and 13888i (start times 2002/107-02:19:00 and 04:16:00) both had +/-0.5 dB random fluctuations in the carrier amplitude going into ingress. Data collected from DSS 15 occultation 13896i (start time 2002/107- 19:58:00) had two -1 dB notches in the carrier amplitude over 20 s. The first notch occured ~2 minutes into the measurement and the second about 2 minutes before ingress. In addition there were +/-0.4 dB random fluctuations in the carrier amplitude, possibly because this was the first measurement of the pass. Data collected from DSS 15 occultation 13897i (start time 2002/107- 21:56:00) had a brief 1.0 dB drop in carrier amplitude about 20 s before ingress. The amplitude recovered, but only half of the magnitude. So, for the 20 s before ingress, the signal level was about 0.5 dB below where it should have been. Data collected from DSS 15 occultations 13898i and 13899i (start times 2002/107-23:48:00 and 2002/108-01:51:00) both had +/-0.4 dB random fluctuations in the free-space carrier amplitude. Results of quick look processing were essentially indistinguishable, however. Small differences such as 0.1 dB in MAX_SNR on the second occultation can be attributed to the slight path variations. Joe Twicken plans to carry out Allan Deviation tests on the paired occultations next week, after the reconstructed SPK file is delivered.
