In a previous report (HEA2262A.TXT) we noted run time errors in occultation calculations carried out with the most recent NAIF Toolkit. These have been resolved. First, NAIF switched to program assigned logical unit numbers; our code was making fixed assignments, and sometimes these overlapped with the NAIF assignments -- leading to read errors. Second, NAIF switched to a different way of interpolating between fixed values. This was not causing run-rime errors, but it led to slightly different results between old and new calculations -- a problem discovered after the logical unit error was resolved. The first measurement on day 270 at DSS 45 (occultation 15890i, start time 2002/270-20:14:00) had both max SNR and carrier levels about 2 dB lower than expected. The last measurement on day 271 at DSS 45 (occultation 15895i, start time 2002/271-06:02:00) did not capture ingress. The end of tracking occurred about two minutes into the measurement. This occultation was successfully captured by DSS 65, however. Data collected on day 271 at DSS 65 (occultation 15895i, start time 2002/271-06:02:00) had max SNR and carrier levels about 1 dB lower than expected.
