This measurement was successfully captured by DSS 25, however. The first measurement on day 298 at DSS 15 (occultation 16229i, start time 2002/298-13:14:00) had +/-0.3 dB rectified sinusoidal modulation on the free-space carrier amplitude, with a period of about 20 seconds. The other measurements in this pass were normal. Periodic modulation on signals collected at DSS 15 has been reported before (see HEA2294A.TXT and references therein). We received notification of and queried for occultations captured at DSS 45 (16232i through 16237i, start times 2002/298-19:07:00 through 2002/299-04:55:00) except that 16235i was not mentioned in the e-mail. We are investigating. The last measurement collected at DSS 63 (occultation 16242i, start time 2002/299-14:44:00) had free-space carrier levels about 15dB down with +/-0.3dB sinusoidal modulation of period ~10 seconds for the first three minutes of the measurement. The carrier amplitude returned to normal, stable levels about three minutes before ingress. Nothing in either the SOE or DKF explains the sudden change at 14:48:00.
