PDS_VERSION_ID = PDS3 RECORD_TYPE = STREAM OBJECT = TEXT PUBLICATION_DATE = 2002-12-13 NOTE = "MGS RST Instrument Health Report HEA2347A.TXT" END_OBJECT = TEXT END Miscellaneous ============= Last night, we began submitting individual queries for Monitor data from each DSN station. This appears to be the only way to separate Monitor data when two or more antennas are tracking MGS at the same time. The result is a dozen channels of information from as many as 17 different sources; typically, however, no more than 3-4 antennas track MGS during any one 24-hr period. For now, we are distinguishing different sources using the 8th character in the file name ('A' = ALL, the previous default; 'B' = DSS 14; 'C' = DSS 15; 'D' = DSS 16, ... 'R' = DSS 66). We intend to add the DSN_STATION_NUMBER keyword to PDS labels, but that change has only been implemented for the MCH (initial) product type so far. We also need to improve labeling of plots. An additional task is checking for data in additional channels. This issue actually precipitated the changes, since we found that sometimes basic information -- such as antenna elevation angle -- was not appearing in our data stream during MSPA operations. There can be as many as four Monitor channels carrying the same type of information; since the beginning of MGS operations, we have typically collected only one (or, at most, two). If the channel for the antenna we were actualy using was not one of those collected, we were not picking up that information. After ~5 min, the level would reset and begin decreasing again at a rate of -0.2 dB over the next ~5 min. Occultation 16814i had one reset point at ~30 s before ingress. Occultation 16815i had two reset points, the first ~6 min before ingress and the second ~80 s before ingress. The carrier amplitude for occultation 16816i decreased over the entire measurement, with no reset.
