The next report is likely to be Friday. Pat Dubon of JPL has resolved the issues in query2plot which prevented our processing of DSN Monitor data (see HEA3083A.TXT and ISA Z79921). We can now define a new set of environment variables which allow query2plot to locate updated CPT, CCL, and TDL files and process the new 0158 monitor format from stations which have upgraded to NSP. The default environment variables allow processing of non-NSP monitor data. Unfortunately, the channel assignments in the 0158 data are completely different, so all of the downstream Stanford software needs to be overhauled before we can look at DSN Monitor results. Because of travel and other commitments, this will not happen for at least another month. Small steps in the free-space carrier level at DSS 65 were first noted in MGS HEA3080A.TXT. The first two measurements collected by DSS 43 on day 083 had +/-0.3 dB smooth and almost sinusoidal (period about 4 minutes) fluctuations in the free-space carrier amplitude (occultations 18066i and 18067i, start times 2003/083-16:30:00 and 2003/083-18:28:00).
