PDS_VERSION_ID = PDS3 RECORD_TYPE = STREAM OBJECT = TEXT PUBLICATION_DATE = 2003-10-29 NOTE = "MGS RST Instrument Health Report HEA3302A.TXT" END_OBJECT = TEXT END Errata ====== We should have noted in HEA3300A.TXT that RSR data collected during DSS 63 and DSS 14 overlap on 2003/297 and during DSS 14 and DSS 26 overlap on 2003/298 will be used to determine whether subreflector motion has any effect on the quality of radio occultation data. The subreflector at DSS 14 was fixed during the entire pass, the subreflector at DSS 26 was allowed to move during the entire pass, and the subreflector at DSS 63 was allowed to move during the last two occultations (20688i and 20689e). For more information and analysis results from earlier tests, see the Miscellaneous section of HEA3300A.TXT. Occultation 20723e at DSS-54 (start time 2003/300-18:59:00) has +/-0.3 dB oscillations in carrier amplitude with a period less than 5 seconds for the entire time after egress. The SNR for this occultation is also about 3 dB less than nominal. All data collected at DSS-26 has a noise skirt (+/-100 Hz, ~15 dB) around the carrier and spurs at +/-60,-180 Hz. Occultation 20727i at DSS-26 on DOY301, occultations 20688i at DSS-63 and DSS-14 on DOY297, and occultations 20691i at DSS-14 and DSS-26 on DOY298 indicate that the HGA rewind starts approximately 5 minutes before ingress. The following occultations were captured at two different antennas. The subreflector at DSS 14 was fixed for the entire pass, it was allowed to move during the last two occultations at DSS 63 (20688i and 20689e), and it was allowed to move during the entire pass at DSS 26. The overlapping data will be compared to determine whether subreflector motion compromises the quality of radio occultations.
