PDS_VERSION_ID = PDS3 RECORD_TYPE = STREAM OBJECT = TEXT PUBLICATION_DATE = 2003-10-31 NOTE = "MGS RST Instrument Health Report HEA3304A.TXT" END_OBJECT = TEXT END Errata ====== Two passes in the last ten days have been designated 'demonstrations' of DSS 55 capability. The station becomes operational on 1 November. We have queried for both RSR and MON data on days 293 and 300. We were not able to get any data from day 293; the Monitor data and part of the RSR data have been obtained from day 300. During the week beginning 1 November, there are five for DSS 55 passes for MGS. The DSN Monitor data from day 293 were apparently not saved because DSS 63 was 'prime' during that time period. That was not the case on day 300, and should not be the case once DSS 55 becomes operational. We have discussed this problem with Marla Thornton, who indicates the Monitor data problem on 293 was transient and should not happen again. The query server handling RSR data runs AMMOS v.26 software, which does not recognize DSS 55. Marla and Curt Eaton indicate that the software should be upgraded by the end of November, at which time we should be able to query for the outstanding DSS 55 RSR data. Curt will plan to hold the DSS 55 data on the query server until we have been notified of the upgrade and have had a chance to download it. In the meantime, we can query for data using DSS=ALL in the PVL file; but this will create files with records coming from different sources if two or more antennas are capturing the same occultation. Except for some test data, we now plan to hold the DSS 55 RSR queries until after the upgrade on RSR_MASTER_QueryServer. Cause for this anomaly is not known, but the antenna was still in 'demo' mode. We are routinely collecting only samples of ingress occultation data since the HGA rewind obscures the occultation itself. Occultation 20747i (DSS-63, start time 2003/302-19:36:00) data indicate that the HGA rewind begins about 5 minutes before ingress. Spurs (+/-60, 180 Hz from the carrier) exist in all data collected at DSS 63 on 2003/302. Carrier amplitude fluctuations of +/-1 dB can be seen in data from occultation 20746e (DSS-63, start time 2003/302-16:06:00). Uplink ramp leakage can be seen in occultation 20747e (DSS-63, start time 2003/302-18:04:00).
