The change in frequency beginning on 2003-10-29 correlates with unusual solar activity. Mars Odyssey 2001 went into safe mode at 0745 UTC on that date. It appears the MGS USO crystal may have been affected and that the oscillator settled in to a new reference frequency over the next approximately 5 days. The straight line fits to oscillator frequency (red) show daily drift of the reference frequency before and after the solar event. The plot was constructed by Joe Twicken at Stanford University for the MGS Radio Science Team." END_OBJECT = PS_DOCUMENT END
