We will continue collecting approximately one ingress per day to monitor the HGA rewind effects. Both egress measurements from DSS 25 on day 340 had SNR and ADC input levels between 22 and 25 dB lower than expected, with +/-2 dB fluctuation in the ADC input level. The cause is currently unknown (occultations 21205e and 21206e, start times 2003/340-04:52:00 and 2003/340-06:50:00). All measurements from DSS 14 on day 339 had +/-60, 180, and 300 Hz spurs (occultations 21191e through 21194e, start times 2003/339-01:23:00 through 2003/339-07:17:00). The first and last measurements from DSS 14 on day 340/341 had ADC input levels about 5 dB low, with +/-3 dB random fluctuation (occultations 21214e and 21218e, start times 2003/340-22:32:00 and 2003/341-06:23:00). The remaining three egress occultations from DSS 14 on day 340/341 all had +/-1 dB random fluctuations in the ADC input level (occultations 21215e through 21217e, start times 2003/341-00:29:00 through 2003/341-04:25:00). The change in frequency beginning on 2003-10-29 correlates with unusual solar activity. Mars Odyssey 2001 went into safe mode at 0745 UTC on that date. It appears the MGS USO crystal may have been affected and that the oscillator settled in to a new reference frequency over the next approximately 5 days. The straight line fits to oscillator frequency (red) show daily drift of the reference frequency before and after the solar event.
