All data reported here from DSS 43 could have benefitted from an increase in gain of 2 dB. Data collected at DSS 54 could have had higher gains by 4 dB. Two ingress recordings were collected (occultations 21268i and 21279i, start times 2003/345-10:01:00 and 2003/346-07:36:00, both at DSS 43). Each shows the HGA rewing starting 3.0-3.5 minutes before ingress. We will continue to collect only a few ingress measurements until the rewind has moved away from the ingress window. All egress data collected at DSS 43 have uplink ramp signals 4-5 minutes after egress. Most data from DSS 54 have either sinusoidal carrier level fluctuations or abrupt dips in carrier level. Amplitude of these features is about 0.5 dB and their period is about 30 s. Sinusoidal variations are most obvious in data from occultation 21272e (start time 2003/345-16:21:00); the mini-dropouts are most easily seen in data from occultation 21275e (start time 2003/345- 22:14:00). Data from occultation 21277e (DSS 15, start time 2003/346-02:10:00) have a moderately strong but unusually brief surface echo. Surface echoes for the past several days have shown wide variations, possibly suggesting heterogenous surface texture at the latitudes presently being probed.
