science since late 2003. The most recent of the nine ingress measurements in today's report shows that the HGA rewind still begins about 30 s before the signal is extinguished by the limb (occultation 22305i, start time 2004/065-05:24:00). These measurements remain of dubious value for science so far as the neutral atmosphere is concerned; but they may be of interest in determining electron profiles in the ionosphere. Dave Hinson is reviewing the geometry with Joe Twicken. As mentioned in HEA4062A.TXT, the small amplitude fluctuations in the ADC input level, attributed to solar panel variation, have been landing right on top of egress since roughly day 052. By day 060, however, the interference from the solar panel may have moved to a time when the spacecraft is occulted; it is no longer visible in the quick look data. Three measurements in the middle of a DSS 25 pass on day 056/057 were lost when the RSR failed (occultations 22204e through 22205e, start times 2004/056- 21:42:00 through 2004/056-23:09:00). Aseel Anabtawi noticed the failure and switched the remaining measurements to a different RSR, where they were successfully collected. The RSR failure was traced to a bad power supply, which has since been replaced. The first three measurements at DSS 45 on day 060 were lost due to a scripting error (occultations 22245e through 2246e, start times 2004/060- 06:11:00 through 2004/060-08:09:00). We have been unable to query for the first egress measurement at DSS 15 on day 062/063 (occultation 22278e, start time 2004/062-22:58:00). Cause for the problem is unknown; we had no difficulties with the remaining three egress measurements in the pass. The second and third (of four) egress measurements at DSS 26 on day 058/059 were unusably short, as the ground antenna appears to have stopped tracking only 20 to 30 seconds after egress. The cause for this behavior is unknown (occultations 22230e and 22231e, start times 2004/059-00:44:00 and 02:42:00). All measurements from all passes at DSS 45 included in today's report had +/-60 Hz spurs around the carrier frequency. The following egress occultations had lower than expected ADC input levels or small fluctuations in the ADC input level: Occultation Start Date/Time DSS Comments ----------- ----------------- ----- ------------------------- 22211e 2004/057-11:27:00 55 +/-0.1 dB sin mod, T<5 s 22212e 2004/057-13:24:00 55 +/-0.1 dB sin mod, T<5 s 22213e 2004/057-15:22:00 55 +/-0.2 dB sin mod, T~20 s 22225e 2004/058-14:56:00 55 +/-0.2 dB random fluct 22235e 2004/059-10:33:00 45 +/-0.3 dB random fluct 22235e 2004/059-10:33:00 55 +/-0.3 dB random fluct 22237e 2004/059-14:29:00 55 +/-0.3 dB random fluct 22238e 2004/059-16:27:00 55 +/-0.5 dB random fluct 22250e 2004/060-16:00:00 65 +/-0.1 dB random fluct 22262e 2004/061-15:33:00 65 +/-0.2 dB random fluct 22284e 2004/063-10:44:00 55 +/-0.2 dB random fluct 22286e 2004/063-14:40:00 55 +/-0.2 dB sin mod, T~20 s 22296e 2004/064-10:18:00 65 +/-0.3 dB random fluct The following occultations were captured at two different antennas: Occultation Start Date/Time DSS #1 DSS #2 ----------- ----------------- ------ ------ 22208e 2004/057-05:33:00 25 45 22235e 2004/058-10:33:00 45 55 22241e 2004/059-22:20:00 55 25 22247e 2004/060-10:07:00 45 65 22253e 2004/060-21:53:00 65 26 22257e 2004/061-05:44:00 26 45 Closed Loop Data ================ Data Collection --------------- We have obtained the following files from OSCAR and EIS: Original File Name Name on SOPC ------------------------------------ ------------ ODF: 04068O069.DAT;1 4068069A.ODF TROPCAL: ATC04MAR.CSP;3 4061073A.TRO WEATHER: WEATHER_10_LATEST.TXT;420 40010681.WEA WEATHER: WEATHER_40_LATEST.TXT;420 40010684.WEA WEATHER: WEATHER_60_LATEST.TXT;420 40010686.WEA EOP: 040309-eop.long 20204152.EOP EOP: 040309-eop.short 31514152.EOP Ancillary Data ============== Data Collection --------------- We have obtained the following files from the DOM: Original File Name Name on SOPC ------------------------------------ ------------ AMD: amdgen.04-068.out 4066067A.AMD AMD: amdgen.04-069.out 4067068A.AMD OPT: optg_m_040308_OD22340-22348_22719_V1 4068099A.OPT SAK: mgs_solar_array_2004-064.ck 4064064A.SAK SAK: mgs_solar_array_2004-067.ck 4067067A.SAK SOE: mm339b.04.tsoe 4071078D.SOE SPK: spk_m_040308_OD22340-22348_22719_V1 4068099A.SPK TCK: mgs_spice_c_kernel_2004-064.ck 4064064A.TCK TCK: mgs_spice_c_kernel_2004-067.ck 4067067A.TCK We have obtained the following files from NAIF: Original File Name Name on SOPC ------------------------------------ ------------ AGK: mgs_hga_ck_2004-02-28.bc 4059059A.AGK
