The same occultation was also captured at DSS 14 and had +/-1 dB fluctuations. But the variations at DSS 43 are very regular, whereas the variations at DSS 14 appear to be random. At DSS 43, this was the third of six occultations; none of the others showed comparable behavior. Data from occultation 23486i (DSS 26, start time 2004/161-19:33:00) also showed +/-1 dB variations in the carrier level. But this was the first of eight observations and probably results from tropospheric heterogenity at low elevation angles.
