The oscillation appears to continue briefly in the noise level immediately after ingress, but at a lesser amplitude. Data from occultation 24144i (DSS 26, start time 2004/215-14:59:00) have +/-1 dB fluctuations in carrier level prior to ingress. Since this was the first occultation of the pass the likely cause is atmospheric inhomogeneities at low elevation angles.
