See HEA4231A.TXT for a preliminary report. I have investigated the frequency stability of a number of open-loop RSR recordings from 2004/225-226. The DOY 225 recordings were acquired simultaneously at DSS 24 using RSR3 with upgraded software and RSR2 with existing software. The DOY 226 recordings were acquired at DSS 25 using RSR3 with upgraded software and RSR1 with existing software. Results of quick look processing for the two sets of recordings were essentially indistinguishable. That conclusion may now be extended to estimates of USO frequency and Allan Deviation from more sophisticated analyses. I used the latest NAV trajectory reconstruction (spk_m_040808_OD24218- 24301_rec_V1) to make the Allan deviation computations for the DOY 225-226 recordings. The results may be found in the tables below. There was no difference between the weighted USO frequency estimate from each RSR for any of the occultations. Based on that and the measurements of Allan Deviation, I see no significant difference between the performance of the RSR's with existing and upgraded software on these dates. There was no appreciable difference in stability between the two RSR's at any integration time for any of the occultations. Furthermore, the small differences in stability do not seem to consistently favor one RSR over the other.
