MGS entered safe mode last Friday (2005/238). Jesse Glance reports the situation as follows: MGS nominal mapping with SCP-2 in control and SCP-1 in SAFE Mode (from a previous anomaly). MGS was receiving a MOC NIPC uplink when SCP-2 experienced/detected an anomaly and "locked up"; resulting in the S/C autonomously being placed into SAFE Mode. LMA has successfully rebooted SCP-2 into SAFE Mode and is performing memory readouts and analysis in accordance with the MGS SAFE Mode Recovery Procedure. MGS is sun-coning with a rotation period of 100 minutes. Downlink consists of selected engineering data at 10 bps. Uplink is via LGA. Root cause of problem(s) resulting in SCP-1 and SCP-2 anomalies is still under investigation.
