2005/305 13:57 URR The DSS 45 spur problem (see HEA5300A.TXT) makes the data through 2005/303 of questionable science value. Not only are there large spurs every 120 Hz in the frequency domain, but the SNR is 25 dB lower than would be expected. Kevin Piechowski at the Canberra complex reported a solution on 2005/304: Today we replaced a failed 15V power supply in the S/X downconverter on DSS45. This impacted the bandpass on both S-Band and X-Band downlink signals. I'm surmising that this may have caused the problem on MGS. We do not see spurs in the DSS 45 data collected on days 304 and 305, and the SNR has returned to nominal levels. So we conclude that the problem has been solved.
