In fact, a signal was present at the 35-40 dB MAX SNR level; but it was the carrier with telemetry modulation turned on. The transmitter was turned off before the occultation; there will be little or no science value in the data, but a signal was definitely present. Miscellaneous ============= Ray Jackson will be starting a new job next week. His MGS duties will be split between Joe Twicken (mostly daily data) and Dick Simpson (mostly system tasks). The transition will be gradual with Ray continuing some of the data flow streamlining that has not been completed while he cross-trains and advises Joe and Dick on the operations which have become routine. Given the expected funding profile for the next year or two, it seemed unlikely that we could hire a replacement for anything but a trivial amount of time, so there will be some TBD contraction over the next few months in the scope of work being carried out at Stanford.
