Here's what Sal and I think that we can try: - I just called Data Control and asked to get a copy of the data files from the CDR. They will call me back in a few. If this works, then great. If not then .. - Now that the DSP is fixed, I will retransmit the data during the next SPC-10 pass, and then call DC again. If this doesn't work, then .. - As a last resort, we can ask the station to pull out the current disk and send it to JPL, and install a new one. Sal can then take it to DTF-21 and try to get the data. By the way, Sal mentioned that the DSP problems that we had yesterday are possibly the cause of the latest sawtooth problems as well! I have faith in this data .. I'll not give up until I know we've tried everything! :) -Aseel -------------------------------------------------------------------------- From aseel@godzilla.jpl.nasa.gov Thu Mar 15 05:05 PST 2001 Received: from godzilla.jpl.nasa.gov (godzilla.jpl.nasa.gov [137.78.177.120]) by magellan.stanford.edu (8.9.3/8.9.3) with ESMTP id FAA10335 for ; Thu, 15 Mar 2001 05:05:55 -0800 (PST) Received: (from aseel@localhost) by godzilla.jpl.nasa.gov (8.9.3/8.9.3) id FAA07296; Thu, 15 Mar 2001 05:06:33 -0800 (PST) Date: Thu, 15 Mar 2001 05:06:33 -0800 (PST) From: Aseel Anabtawi Message-Id: <200103151306.FAA07296@godzilla.jpl.nasa.gov> To: mgsops@godzilla.jpl.nasa.gov, rsimpson@magellan.stanford.edu Subject: Status of Lost Data Content-Type: text Content-Length: 1283 Status: RO Hello Dick, For over 4 hours tonight, John Grant from Data Control and I were exchanging many phone calls about the seven "lost" data files from SPC-10. He was a great help! I first tried to query the data again, but it could not be found. John then tried to reprocess the files, but he was getting errors, so we agreed that I should try to retransmit the data again. I did, as he watched the data coming in. I started with two files, but he only saw one coming. He processed that file, and he got the same errors that he got before. He couldn't tell me which data he saw coming in until it was successfully processed, which it wasn't, but he did give me the IDR number. I don't understand the errors, but they were something like (I'm having difficulty reading my own handwriting!!): Can't compare threshold ERT time to determine real-time status (followed by a time generation overflow message) Invalid vote encountered while checking sequence in mst_key (followed by a time generation overflow message) The data was corrupted. We decided that there's no point in trying to retransmit the remaining data sets at this time. But I must say that John really tried and was very helpful. I'll talk to Sal later today about what we can try next.
