I'm not sure what happened, but I'll wait to investigate until you look at the data. 2001/349 at DSS 15 12393i, 12395e, and 12395i (all measurements over this pass) were lost. The script ran OK and everything was fine, but someone (by mistake) disabled the record a few minutes before the first measurement started. The RSR was running and the signal was there, but the RSR was not recording (this is equivalent to run no record on the DSP). I think what the person what trying to do was disable the FFT, but instead disabled the record (the button just below). The way I build the scripts is that I enable the recording at the beginning of the pass, and just quit at the end, so if it is disabled at the beginning, it won't be enabled again. The reason that person was looking at our displays is that I decided to take a break and I was on the phone with him checking that things are running OK. When he said that he saw a signal, I assumed all was well. He did not realize the he hit the record disable button. Other than that, I think all other data were successfully collected. This is a little vague. But I guess the lesson here is that people who are in a position to push the wrong button (when you don't have any clear way to check configurations after) should not be in positions where they can push the wrong button. -------------------------------------------------------------------------- From aseel@godzilla.jpl.nasa.gov Sun Dec 16 15:08 PST 2001 Received: from godzilla.jpl.nasa.gov (godzilla.jpl.nasa.gov [137.78.177.120]) by magellan.stanford.edu (8.9.3/8.9.3) with ESMTP id PAA15262; Sun, 16 Dec 2001 15:08:08 -0800 (PST) Received: from localhost (localhost [127.0.0.1]) by godzilla.jpl.nasa.gov (8.9.3/8.9.3) with SMTP id PAA11987; Sun, 16 Dec 2001 15:10:14 -0800 (PST) Message-Id: <200112162310.PAA11987@godzilla.jpl.nasa.gov> Date: Sun, 16 Dec 2001 15:10:14 -0800 (PST) From: Aseel Anabtawi Reply-To: Aseel Anabtawi Subject: Weekend Report To: rsimpson@magellan.stanford.edu, joe@nova.stanford.edu, data@magellan.stanford.edu MIME-Version: 1.0 Content-MD5: mmFDV+OHeyVjWkRARv/jVQ== X-Mailer: dtmail 1.2.1 CDE Version 1.2.1 SunOS 5.6 sun4u sparc Content-Type: TEXT/plain; charset=us-ascii Content-Length: 1302 Status: RO Hello, Data collection went pretty well this weekend except for couple of things: 2001/349 at DSS 65 12389e: The RSR log shows that the SNR decreased a minute or so after egress. The reason that person was looking at our displays is that I decided to take a break and I was on the phone with him checking that things are running OK. When he said that he saw a signal, I assumed all was well. He did not realize the he hit the record disable button. Other than that, I think all other data were successfully collected. There is a carrier peeking through the noise in spectra nearly to the end of the recording; but its SNR is 2-4 dB/Hz (compared with 53 dB/Hz after egress but before the event). The noise level is about 1 dB lower after the event than before egress. The recording of the same occultation at DSS 63 looks normal, as does the next one at DSS 65 (12389i). -------------------------------------------------------------------------- From aseel@godzilla.jpl.nasa.gov Mon Dec 17 14:16 PST 2001 Received: from godzilla.jpl.nasa.gov (godzilla.jpl.nasa.gov [137.78.177.120]) by magellan.stanford.edu (8.9.3/8.9.3) with ESMTP id OAA14931 for ; Mon, 17 Dec 2001 14:16:34 -0800 (PST) Received: from localhost (localhost [127.0.0.1]) by godzilla.jpl.nasa.gov (8.9.3/8.9.3) with SMTP id OAA17295 for ; Mon, 17 Dec 2001 14:18:42 -0800 (PST) Message-Id: <200112172218.OAA17295@godzilla.jpl.nasa.gov> Date: Mon, 17 Dec 2001 14:18:42 -0800 (PST) From: Aseel Anabtawi Reply-To: Aseel Anabtawi Subject: Re: DSS 351 at SPC 40 To: rsimpson@magellan.stanford.edu MIME-Version: 1.0 Content-MD5: Vt9dePl1YzGiDM2lm89Qeg== X-Mailer: dtmail 1.2.1 CDE Version 1.2.1 SunOS 5.6 sun4u sparc Content-Type: TEXT/plain; charset=us-ascii Content-Length: 701 Status: RO > >RSR2B was actually collecting DSS-45 data. DSS-63 took RSR2A, and DSS-65 took RSR2B, but as soon as it was done, the RSR had to be released for DSS-54 to take over. By the way, a new soe came out that starts on DOY 351 with DSS-43. Should I send new messages with the new soe for DSS-43 on DOY 351, DSS-45 on DOY-45, and DSS-63 on DOY 351 (the last one that for sent out)?
