All were lost because the predicts were not found. The RSR remained in an "unverify" mode, so not even data with wrong predicts were collected. When I checked the predicts directory on the RSR, I could not find the correct predicts set there. I generate the predicts on one of our machines at JPL (mothra), then transfer them to rsops2, and finally to the predicts directory on the RSR. All transfers are done by short programs, so I just type the program name and the files are transferred to the correct directory. I even edited the programs yesterday to combine them into one so that I type less and reduce the chances of scripting errors. Well .. something happened in the transfer of the predicts file from rsops2 to the RSR. If the wrong RSR password was entered, the transfer would fail (but I would've seen the error message!). I don't know where exactly the problem was. Either I entered the wrong password, or the command to send the predicts to the RSR was not entered. In any case, it's scripting error. Sorry. This time it's different. The predicts were in the correct director on the RSR, however, there's a line in the predicts header (UPLINK_BAND= ) that doesn't have an entry for uplink band and the RSR would not accept the predicts like that even for 1-way predicts, so I normally edit the predicts file and put an X for uplink band. I put 63 instead of X this time. I don't knw what I was thinking!! Again, the RSR remained in "unverify" mode, and no data were collected. I fixed the predicts file for the last measurement which is coming up in an hour. The new delivery of the predicts software should take care of this missing uplink band entry. Nicole (who wrote the software) sent me a fix a couple of days before I left on vacation, but I had trouble compiling the program, and because of Cassini's gravity wave experiment going on at that time, I could not get a hold of the people in our group who could help me with compiling. After I returned I thought that I should continue editing the file (since I never had problems with that) until the new version gets delivered (didn't want to risk having problems with the current working version). I think I will try compiling again on Monday. Not only were the 120 Hz spurs present all through the spectra on both Saturday and Sunday, but the DSS 14 SNR was 6-8 dB lower than it should have been. In fact, the DSS 15 pass Saturday that immediately preceded DSS 14, had higher SNR than DSS 14 just a couple hours later.
