There are no problems with RSR1. All the problems were due to interference from the NMC (Network Monitor and Control) people at SPC-60. DOY 149 ------- For some reason, NMC connected to RSR1, and did an "ifs pts1a" command at 02/149-11:15:09. What this did was that it took the IF switch away from the DSS-65 antenna and put it into the telemetry simulator. This explains why the last four measurements (the first of which started at 12:44) had very low SNR. I don't know the reason why NMC did this. I'm guessing that since that was about the same time RSR2 was being upgraded to the new software, they may have assumed that RSR1 was also free. It should've been obvious to them that the RSR was being used and data were being collected. Besides, Sal has asked them before to check with us before using the RSR. DOY 150 ------- About two hours into the pass, NMC connected to the RSR and tried to run a script, but since my script was running and the RSR was in "verify" mode, their script failed. A lot of activities by NMC followed (such as fft plots and histograms), but none that would affect our data collection. They continued to try to issue commands, and finally at 13:24:39 they successfully issued an "frr" command (frequency rate correction). This command explains why the data that followed had anomalous header info. Andre actually specifically mentioned Polynomial Coefficients, which Dick reported had suspicious values. Therefore, the last three measurements are bad. Please try to query for the first three measurements again. That data should be good. Again, I don't know the reason why NMC did this. It maybe because we sent them a request to look into what happened to the DOY 149 data, and that was them trying to trouble shoot the RSR! It should've been clear to them that a script was running, so they should've left the RSR alone at least until it was free. I should also mention that on both days when NMC connected to the RSR, they put the RSR in an unusual "60" link that has nothing to do with the antenna that is being used, so there are many warning messages in the RSR logs about "DSSList," "SpacecraftNumber," and "PassNumber" which are all provided by the predicts file. These warning messages do not affect data collection. I'll try to contact Sal now and ask him to call SPC-60 to ask them not to interfere with our data collection. We'll try to get an explanation from them about DOY 149 and DOY 150 early next week.
