It is M101046. > Kerri's processing today shows very poor SNR at Madrid. > Is the weather still bad there? > > Open Loop Data > ============== > > Data Collection > --------------- > > We have transferred the following RSR open loop data to Stanford: > > YYYY/DDD DSS RSR RSR CH KSPS BT REC RECS RSR MAX > START STOP ID RS LEN FILE NAME SNR > -------- --- -------- -------- --- -- ---- -- ----- ----- ------------ ----- > 2002/273 34 20:49:00 20:59:00 3 1 2 16 8260 601 2273204J.RSR 46.0 > 2002/273 34 21:33:00 21:43:00 3 1 2 16 8260 601 22732133.RSR 47.0 > 2002/273 34 22:46:00 22:56:00 3 1 2 16 8260 601 22732246.RSR 46.9 > 2002/273 34 23:30:00 23:40:00 3 1 2 16 8260 601 22732330.RSR 47.2 > 2002/274 34 00:44:00 00:54:00 3 1 2 16 8260 601 22740044.RSR 46.9 > 2002/274 34 01:28:00 01:38:00 3 1 2 16 8260 601 22740128.RSR 47.1 > 2002/274 34 02:42:00 02:52:00 3 1 2 16 8260 601 22740242.RSR 46.8 > 2002/274 65 06:37:00 06:47:00 3 1 2 16 8260 601 22740637.RSR 41.2 > 2002/274 65 07:21:00 07:31:00 3 1 2 16 8260 601 22740721.RSR 41.8 > 2002/274 65 08:35:00 08:45:00 3 1 2 16 8260 601 22740835.RSR 42.2 > 2002/274 63 09:19:00 09:29:00 4 1 2 16 8260 601 22740919.RSR 47.7 > 2002/274 63 10:33:00 10:43:00 4 1 2 16 8260 601 22741033.RSR 46.6 > 2002/274 63 11:17:00 11:27:00 4 1 2 16 8260 601 22741117.RSR 46.0 > 2002/274 63 12:30:00 12:40:00 4 1 2 16 8260 601 22741230.RSR 46.9 > 2002/274 15 14:28:00 14:38:00 3 1 2 16 8260 601 22741428.RSR 46.3 > 2002/274 15 16:26:00 16:36:00 3 1 2 16 8260 601 22741626.RSR 47.0 > 2002/274 15 18:23:00 18:33:00 3 1 2 16 8260 601 22741823.RSR 47.3 > 2002/274 15 20:21:00 20:31:00 3 1 2 16 8260 601 22742021.RSR 46.1 > 2002/274 15 22:19:00 22:29:00 3 1 2 16 8260 601 22742219.RSR 45.8 -------------------------------------------------------------------------- From aseel@godzilla.jpl.nasa.gov Tue Oct 8 16:14:38 2002 Received: from godzilla.jpl.nasa.gov (godzilla.jpl.nasa.gov [137.78.78.95]) by magellan.stanford.edu (8.11.6/8.11.6) with ESMTP id g98NEa429661; Tue, 8 Oct 2002 16:14:37 -0700 (PDT) Received: from localhost (localhost [127.0.0.1]) by godzilla.jpl.nasa.gov (8.9.3/8.9.3) with SMTP id QAA04347; Tue, 8 Oct 2002 16:14:36 -0700 (PDT) Message-Id: <200210082314.QAA04347@godzilla.jpl.nasa.gov> Date: Tue, 8 Oct 2002 16:14:36 -0700 (PDT) From: Aseel Anabtawi Reply-To: Aseel Anabtawi Subject: Modulation at SPC-10 To: rsimpson@magellan.stanford.edu, joe@nova.stanford.edu, kusza@magellan.stanford.edu Cc: SAbbate@jftl.jpl.nasa.gov MIME-Version: 1.0 Content-Type: TEXT/plain; charset=us-ascii Content-MD5: X6wBp/66aLyTLB6QrzuTEA== X-Mailer: dtmail 1.2.1 CDE Version 1.2.1 SunOS 5.6 sun4u sparc Content-Length: 1928 Status: RO Hello, The anomalies shown below were listed in recent health reports. How serious is this modulation? Should we ask the station to investigate? Regards, Aseel Data from occultation 15972i collected at DSS 15 (start time 2002/277- 13:05:00) have a +/-0.2 dB 7 second modulation on the free space carrier amplitude for most of the time before ingress. Data collected from DSS 15, occultation 15948i (start time 2002/275-14:00:00) had +/-1 dB sinusoidal modulation on the free-space carrier amplitude with period of ~10 seconds. The modulation was present before telemetry turned off but not noticeable in the noise level after ingress. amplitude over the course of the measurement, with +/-0.3 dB random fluctuations. Data collected from DSS 15 occultation 15924e (start time 2002/273- 13:42:00) had +/-0.7 dB sinusoidal modulation of the carrier amplitude with period of about 10 seconds. There was no modulation of the noise level either before or after the carrier appeared. Data collected from DSS 15 occultation 15924i (start time 2002/273- 14:56:00) may have very small-amplitude modulation of the carrier level (amplitude ~0.1 dB) with a similar ~10 s period. The first measurement collected at DSS 15 (occultation 15936i, start time 2002/274-14:28:00) had +/-0.2 dB modulation on the free-space carrier amplitude with period of about 5 seconds. The first measurement collected on day 272 at DSS 15 (occultaion 15911i, start time 2002/272-13:26:00) had max SNR levels about 1 dB lower than expected. In addition there was a +/-0.5 dB sinusoidal modulation on the free-space carrier amplitude, with period of about 10 seconds. There was no modulation on the carrier before telemetry was turned off or on the noise level. The last measurement collected on day 272 at DSS 15 (occultation 15915i, start time 2002/272-21:16:00) had a +0.5 dB ramp in the free-space carrier -------------------------------------------------------------------------- From rsimpson@magellan.stanford.edu Wed Oct 9 14:54:06 2002 Received: (from rsimpson@localhost) by magellan.stanford.edu (8.11.6/8.11.6) id g99Ls5e07915; Wed, 9 Oct 2002 14:54:05 -0700 (PDT) Date: Wed, 9 Oct 2002 14:54:05 -0700 (PDT) From: Dick Simpson 723-3525 Message-Id: <200210092154.g99Ls5e07915@magellan.stanford.edu> To: aseel@godzilla.jpl.nasa.gov, joe@nova.stanford.edu, kusza@magellan.stanford.edu, rsimpson@magellan.stanford.edu Subject: Re: Modulation at SPC-10 Cc: SAbbate@jftl.jpl.nasa.gov Content-Length: 1461 Status: R >15972i 2002/277-13:05:00 >15948i 2002/275-14:00:00 >15924e 2002/273-13:42:00 >15924i 2002/273-14:56:00 >15936i 2002/274-14:28:00 >15911i 2002/272-13:26:00 All of these were early in the pass; in only one case was there an earlier occultation without a problem reported. And in that case I looked up the plot and it DOES show modulation; it just wasn't reported because the modulation on the second occultation was much worse. The behavior would be consistent with erratic tracking of the ground antenna (overlapping coverage from DSS 65 in some of the cases shows no modulation). I thought about CONSCAN; I see MSPA (and therefore possible unexpected CONSCAN?) only on the DSN schedule for day 274. >The anomalies shown below were listed in recent health reports. >How serious is this modulation? This is presumably something different. Including it will only confuse matters. Let's concentrate on the quasi-sinusoidal modulation. Thanks for picking up this pattern. With Kerri in and out, I've not been following this closely enough to notice; and she may not have been either.
