Hello Kerri, > Haven't gotten notification for a DSS 15 pass on DOY 292 You should have it by now. >also in a number of the recent e-mail notifications, the last >measurement's orbit number ingress/egress designation were blank Sorry about that. I used to put in the orbit numbers manually, but that is now automated. For some reason, the software that does that skips orbits once in a while. I catch some of them and I put in the number manually, but it looks like I missed some. I'll try to pay more attention to that. >Initial query for the DSS 34 pass on DOY 292 failed The playback failed because I had the wrong stop time in the script. You should be able to query the data now. However, the third measurement, 16161i at 292/23:50:00, was not recorded, and therefore, was lost. The reason why is not clear to me, so I have to do some investigation. It may be because the stop time was incorrect (an error in the software the generates the script put the stop time hour as 24 instead of 00. This is the same time that was used for playback and made it fail). I would think that since the begin time was correct, the RSR would start to record but would not stop. I'll have to look into that. >All measurements (16140i-16144i) from DSS 65 on DOY 291 had no signal. All were lost because of a real-time swap in coverage from DSS-65 to DSS-63 that I was not aware of. The swap was needed because of a transmitter problem at DSS-65. I actually sent an email to the NOPE two weeks ago about developing a procedure for RS to be contacted in such cases, but haven't heard back from him. I just found out that Eugene Sax, who I thought is the NOPE, has retired a while ago! Anyhow, I'll contact the correct NOPE and see what he has to say about this. -------------------------------------------------------------------------- From aseel@godzilla.jpl.nasa.gov Mon Oct 21 17:41:16 2002 Received: from godzilla.jpl.nasa.gov (godzilla.jpl.nasa.gov [137.78.78.95]) by magellan.stanford.edu (8.11.6/8.11.6) with ESMTP id g9M0fFs15517 for ; Mon, 21 Oct 2002 17:41:15 -0700 (PDT) Received: from localhost (localhost [127.0.0.1]) by godzilla.jpl.nasa.gov (8.9.3/8.9.3) with SMTP id RAA20086 for ; Mon, 21 Oct 2002 17:41:15 -0700 (PDT) Message-Id: <200210220041.RAA20086@godzilla.jpl.nasa.gov> Date: Mon, 21 Oct 2002 17:41:15 -0700 (PDT) From: Aseel Anabtawi Reply-To: Aseel Anabtawi Subject: Re: DSS 65/63 on DOY 291 To: rsimpson@magellan.stanford.edu MIME-Version: 1.0 Content-Type: TEXT/plain; charset=us-ascii Content-MD5: N/tREAyzTGz64cdPv96LGQ== X-Mailer: dtmail 1.2.1 CDE Version 1.2.1 SunOS 5.6 sun4u sparc Content-Length: 1087 > >All were lost because of a real-time swap in coverage from DSS-65 to > >DSS-63 that I was not aware of ... > > Is this worth an ISA? Well ... The "new" NOPE is not aware of this. There isn't a continuous NOPE support, so the NOPEs are probably not aware of off hours changes as they happen. The Ops Chiefs are also not responsible. There isn't a procedure the requires them to contact RS, and even if there was one, they'd be doing it as a favor so I wouldn't hold them responsible if data were lost. Let's give the new NOPE a chance and see what he has to say. If the Ops Chiefs are aware of this, it may work. It worked in the past because I talked to different Ops Chiefs about contacting us, but then we went through the occultations hiatus and it threw them off. -------------------------------------------------------------------------- From rsimpson@magellan.stanford.edu Mon Oct 21 17:45:42 2002 Received: (from rsimpson@localhost) by magellan.stanford.edu (8.11.6/8.11.6) id g9M0jfV16257; Mon, 21 Oct 2002 17:45:41 -0700 (PDT) Date: Mon, 21 Oct 2002 17:45:41 -0700 (PDT) From: Dick Simpson 723-3525 Message-Id: <200210220045.g9M0jfV16257@magellan.stanford.edu> To: aseel@godzilla.jpl.nasa.gov Subject: Re: DSS 65/63 on DOY 291 Cc: rsimpson@magellan.stanford.edu Content-Length: 507 >There isn't a procedure the requires them to contact >RS, and even if there was one, they'd be doing it as a favor so I >wouldn't hold them responsible if data were lost.
